Language of Notice English Selection Notice Assignment Country · NG - Nigeria Funding Sources The World Bank Group intends to finance the assignment/services under: · BB - BANK BUDGET Individual/Firm The consultant will be a firm. Assignment Description IFC is conducting the project preparation phase for a renewable energy platform in Nigeria in collaboration with the Nigerian Sovereign Wealth Fund (NSIA). The platform will consider franchise and embedded generation projects. Embedded generation refers to generation projects under 20 MW connected and evacuated through a distribution network. A franchise project refers to a private sector company entering into a franchise agreement with a DISCO, pursuant to which the DISCO grants the company the rights to operate a portion of the DISCOs network for a fixed term and (usually) for financial consideration. The company operates the DISCOs assets within the franchise area during the franchise term, and will typically invest in upgrading infrastructure, loss reduction activities, and/or increased generation capacity. The company is responsible for operating the franchised portion of the network in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, collections and billing, customer management, equipment maintenance, health and safety, environmental and social standards, etc. Objectives The Consultant is to provide i) tax advice on the structuring of the platform and ii) detailed project-level tax diligence for embedded/franchise type projects.
